There are over 60,000 legally blind children in the United States. In the current marketplace, less than 7% of books are available in large-print format, unabridged audio, or braille. The DK Braille series books are the first audience-led, accessible and safety-tested braille books from a mainstream publisher to fully incorporate the needs of partially sighted and blind readers.
A few months ago a couple of members of the US marketing and publicity team visited The Seeing Eye, a philanthropic organization whose mission is to enhance the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of blind people through the use of Seeing Eye® dogs.
DK sponsored 20 Seeing Eye dog harnesses and was given the chance to name a puppy that will be fostered before it enters guide dog training.
